Cat heartbroken after losing her kittens adopts an orphaned kitten as her own

Postpartum depression is a very common and socially accepted problem when it comes to human mothers, but few know that it can also attack animals. A clear case of this is the episode experienced by Misty, a kitten who lost her entire kitten after not recovering from the pain of abandonment and the stress of childbirth.

But now, this kitten has become the surrogate mother to a kitten she has adopted as her own.

Life gave her the opportunity to be a mother again.

Misty is a 3-year-old kitten who was rescued from the streets by Kathy Stankiewicz, a volunteer with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Nevada, United States.

When he found her, the child was pregnant and with serious injuries on her legs, after care, the infection was controlled and in a few days Misty was already a mother.

A great joy for everyone in the refuge.

The birth was a little complicated, but this girl managed to give life to all her kittens. Unfortunately, Misty fell ill a few days after giving birth due to the stress and her notorious weakness and her children could not bear the distance from their mother.

All the kittens died, as their mother fought for her life. This situation was very sad and distressing for the kitten.

Misty regained her health but had to bear the pain of the loss

A few weeks ago, Kathy found a newborn kitten on the street and decided to rescue him. With the arrival of the feline to the residence, a feeling of motherhood emerged in the desolate Misty.

“She accepted it as her own. He came over and started petting him,” Kathy said.

Misty protected the kitten and Kathy decided to name him Sunny. The feline was a little reluctant at first, but gradually got used to the warmth and protection of that stranger who became his new mom.

Now Sunny doesn’t want to run away from her.

Misty started to breastfeed him, as his loss is recent and he is still producing milk.

“Sunny now sees her as her real mother. It wasn’t love at first sight, but there is acceptance and now it’s like Misty brought him into the world. I was so excited to have a kitten to take care of again,” said Kathy.

Thanks to her mother Misty’s care this kitten is already growing and is adding pounds and energy. Also, her fur gets prettier every day and he looks happy next to his new mommy.

Misty had lost her children, but life gave her a new kitten to pour all that motherly love on. For Kathy, it is a real miracle, because Sunny is also helping the cat to overcome all her stress problems and hopes that together they will succeed.

Fate brought them together to form a great team and Kathy is part of this miracle, shares the story, and thanks all the rescuers who make us witnesses of these happy endings.
